Bolney is a beautiful village with far reaching views to the South Downs. It’s has excellent road links to the A23 and the A272 and is served by a regular bus service.
The village hall built in 1881 was donated to the Village in 1924 by the Rawson family who lived at Gravenhurst, Bolney now known as Farney Close. ‘The Rawson Hall’ has been registered as a charity governed by elected Trustees. In recent years it became apparent that the old hall no longer adequately served the village and in 2014 the original premises was sold and construction of a new hall commenced. The New Hall is a registered Charity. The Charity Commission No. is 1165519..
Our new Rawson Hall is a stunning new building nestled in the heart of our village. It offers flexible facilities for a variety of clubs, sporting events, social events, fundraising functions, business meetings, etc. In addition, the community café operates from the premises on 3 days a week.
Examples of the various uses of the halls include: Parties, weddings, amateur dramatic productions, small musical concerts, dinner dances, exhibitions, special interest clubs, exercise/sports clubs, etc. Please see below for a list of rooms with measurements and comfortable number of guests per room.
The large hall measures 22m x 9m and has sufficient height for games such as badminton to be played. We recommended that the Hall can seat 170 people comfortably – but this can reduce if a space is cleared for dancing.
A sprung wooden floor and large glass mirrors mean it is suitable for a variety of dance classes.
It is neutrally decorated which will enable each event to incorporate their own colour schemes when decorating the room for major functions. The room has an efficient heating system and is available to hire with the use of the kitchen next door.
This smaller hall measures 10m x 4m and is much more suitable for smaller functions or gatherings. It has the benefit of basic kitchen facilities. The regular user of this hall is the Playgroup and it should be noted that one or two playgroup items may remain stored at one end of this room. The hall is decorated in a way to inspire and interest young children.
We recommend that this hall seats 40 people comfortably.
The café is served by a fully equipped kitchen and offers an eat-in or takeaway service. It serves delicious tea/coffee, breakfasts, lunches, etc. The seating area has been designed in a way to create a modern, comfortable environment. This area can seat around 25 people
Sport changing rooms
The changing rooms and showering facilities are primarily for the users of the recreational ground including the village football side, however they can be used by others groups.
This room measures 4 x 3.5m and is an ideal space to hold meetings, presentations and teaching. There is a desk with chairs to seat 10 comfortably.
